The Importance of Finding Rest in Your Life

Let’s start by taking a few deep breaths in through your nose and out through your mouth. Feeling better already? Well if your answer is yes than you have found one simple way of putting your mind at ease. It doesn’t stop there though because I’m going to share with you a few other tricks that will help you find a moment of rest in this busy world. Ready? Let’s begin!

1. If you need literal rest then take a nap! We may have busy schedules but you’ll never accomplish anything if you haven’t had proper rest. Taking a true nap would be laying down for an hour or more but if you can’t do that then try for at least 30 minutes. If you don’t plan on actually falling asleep put on some gentle music like nature sounds or calm instrumental just to soothe your brain.

2. If it’s a good temperature outside go take a walk in nature so you can focus on something else for a bit. I’m in Mississippi so this is something I can’t enjoy right now until it’s cold in October (hopefully) but maybe you are in a state with nice weather.

3. Spend some time in Adoration with the Lord because He is the best remedy for a tired, anxious, and worrisome mind. Even if you don’t say a lot of prayers while you’re there just sit and be with Him or have a conversation with Him about what’s going on.

To conclude this post I don’t think I need to explain why finding rest is so important because for one I’ve discussed this before and two because we as human beings were not made to drive ourselves crazy with stress or worry. This quote really sums it up nicely; “Worry is like a rocking chair. It will give you something to do, but it won’t get you anywhere.”
