Sparking Real Joy in Your Life

Do you ever feel as if your life is going at full speed and that everything around you is passing you by like a hummingbird zooming from one flower to the next?

The truth is most of us have experienced this at some point or another in our lives but maybe we really didn’t acknowledge it at the time. We might have realized it but then just continued on in the same direction we had been going without stopping to really think about it. I’m going to let you in on a little secret; we were never made to be like those zooming hummingbirds. God created those little guys for many great reasons: pollination, beauty, and perhaps a snack for another animal, but not for us to imitate. We should be taking a hint from the Kiwi, who unlike the hummingbird is a slower moving and flightless bird that is a wanderer all its life. The Kiwi maybe grounded for its lifespan but to be honest, I really don’t think it minds one bit. It sees the world by looking up and not down like the hummingbird which means it will always have its eyes fixed on something bigger than it. We should too be looking up and at someone who is great than us because we were made to do so. We were made to move slowly through our lives so we can appreciate what’s right in front of us. We were made to look at what’s happening around us in the moment. We were made to stay grounded in the important things and to trust our Creator. The Kiwi does these exact same things as he was made to do, but why do we as humans seem to think we should be doing something other than what we were told to do? God has instilled His commands into all of His creatures but He went a step further and gave us free will so we could choose whether or not to follow His commands for us. It really is a gift so we shouldn’t squander it but instead choose His design for our lives. It most likely is better thought out and will lead to eternal happiness with Him but also means way less stress for us. In all honesty the sooner you except that reality, the happier you will become everyday, but also you will come to find true joy in your life.
